Sushi

About a month ago, I bought Kim and I sushi starter kits. We love sushi and have been interested in making our own. We finally got together the other night to test out our mad sushi skills. We made 3 different rolls. Keep in mind these are our own versions of the rolls. We made a California roll with crab and cucumber. We made a Salmon Roll with salmon, cream cheese, and cucumber. We also made a Tempera Shrimp Roll. We didn't have the tempera sauce, but we did have the tempera batter to fry the shrimp in. We added zucchini to the shrimp. Kim did an amazing job with the rice. You can't just make regular rice. There is actually a long process to the rice. We learned this from the dvd. 4 big tips are...
1. Keep your hands damp
2. Knock off excess water :)
3. Dip your knife in the water
4. When doing rice on the outside, put plastic wrap over your bamboo

It was a lot of fun and definitely trial and error. Next time we will only make 2 rolls for us to share. We had WAY too much food to throw out. I think we had one bite of each roll a piece. The rest got tossed.

Isn't he precious!! We LOVED these and had to have them! (What is on this plate is all that we ended up eating...)
