Biltmore

Jack and I did not have the same spring break, but he did take the Friday off of my spring break so that we could spend the day together. He purchased tickets for us to go to Biltmore. I have always wanted to go to Biltmore and was very excited about our trip.

We had tickets for the Butler's tour at 11am. You are suppose to arrive 5 minutes early. We didn't even get on the grounds until 5 til and it is a 5 mile drive to the parking lot and then a 5 minute walk to the house. So, needless to say, we missed our scheduled tour. It ended up working out perfectly though because it gave us plenty of time for the other activities. We were not rushed through the day and that was nice.

We started our day off at the house doing the tour on our own. He purchased tickets for the audio tour. It was definitely worth the 10 bucks. I wouldn't do the tour of the house without it. After we finished the tour, we headed to one of the cafes for lunch. We enjoyed our delicious and relaxing lunch and then took a stroll through the gardens. After the gardens we walked back to the car to head to the village.

At the village, we were waiting for our wine production tour to begin. So, we got to listen to a storyteller tell us more about the Vanderbilts. Then it was time for our tour. It was really neat being able to go behind the scenes and actually see how the wine is made. After the tour, we did a wine tasting.
It was a lot of fun and beautiful in the mountains. I would LOVE to go back when the flowers are all bloomed.
